A Towson area church will make a faithful transition this weekend as its rector is ordained ”” and its congregation confirmed ”” into the Catholic Church.
Anglican priest Father Edward Meeks ”” of the Christ the King Anglican Parish in Towson ”” will be ordained a Catholic priest by Cardinal Donald Wuerl, Archbishop of Washington, on June 23, during a ceremony in Washington D.C.
The next day, Sunday, June 24, some 120 of Meek’s parishioners are expected to be received into the Catholic Church during a Mass of Confirmation and Reception at Christ the King, located at 1102 Hart Road.
Mark Lewis, St Luke’s, Bladensburg, and Rick Krammer, another former Episcopal priest will also be ordained by Cardinal Wuerl. Across the river my wife and I will be attending the ordination of Randy Sly, former Charismatic Episcopal Church bishop, by Bishop Laverde of the Diocese of Arlington.
Does anyone know to which denomination this parish belongs (at least until weekend!)? I assume by the name that they are not TEC.

According to the Parish Website: “Founded in April, 1996, Christ the King is a parish in the Diocese of the Holy Family, in the Traditional Anglican Communion.”
Also of interest from the parish website, the Dean of Holy Trinity Seminary (Anglican Church in America) is listed as staff for the parish.
Edward Meeks is a former priest of the Diocese of South Carolina (rector of Trinity, Edisto in the 1980s) and retired as a TEC priest after a long cure of souls at St. Mary’s, Ashville, NC. May God bless him and his congregation as they make this journey.
Two different men. The Fr. Meeks who was born in SC and served in Asheville, NC is not married and lives in the Washington DC area. The Fr. Meeks who is being (re)ordained in the Ordinariate is married.
